reapers and vikings and bears

While drawing this, I realized more precisely why nobody likes clowns: they look like Death.

dusk is when the ghosts come out

I have decided that I don't want to reveal too much of what is in the forthcoming zine (people like surprises, right?), so I will be posting a few more previews, but not every week.  Instead, here is a little piece that I drew yesterday in my sketchbook.

I was thinking I could do a children's book around this drawing, with the same title as this post.

the headless horsebaby

Pencil and colored pencil.  Washington Irving is rolling over in his grave.

scaredy cat

Black light painting -- acrylic on cardboard.

in costume

Some quick brush pen drawings based on old photos of people in their Halloween getups.  I like how different the two mouse costumes are, and the kids dressed as cows are pretty creepy.  You can't see it in the drawing, but the cat mask involves a ping-pong ball (split in half), a gumdrop, a candy corn, and lots of Scotch tape.

gemini

Recent sketch for a future painting.  Revisiting the twins theme + a somewhat irreverent take on the old memento mori.

getting in the Halloween spirit

Someday I'll have to use this design for something.  Quick sketch I did on break at work.

Also file under: Jack-o-lanterns with stuff coming out of their eye holes.  I actually drew this in August, I think.  I know, I'm terrible.

back to haunt you

A little while back, somebody laughed out loud at this sketch (admittedly, this was after a couple of beers), but anyway, I figured that was a sign that I should post it here.
