new beginnings

You are someone special.
Today's entry will be the last one on this blog, friends.  This is not because I am packing it in, but because I have a shiny NEW blog:  http://littlechemistry.tumblr.com/

I will be posting every Monday morning (at least), and I hope you will follow me in my new location!  Cheers, Margaret.

dusk is when the ghosts come out

I have decided that I don't want to reveal too much of what is in the forthcoming zine (people like surprises, right?), so I will be posting a few more previews, but not every week.  Instead, here is a little piece that I drew yesterday in my sketchbook.
I was thinking I could do a children's book around this drawing, with the same title as this post.

zine preview #3

Another panel from the short story "My Friend Steve."
I know, I was going to be putting one of these up every week, but I had some important work to do, so posting previews got put on the back burner for a while.  However, I have continued to work on the zine, and here is another little piece of it.

zine preview #2

from the story "My Friend Steve"
I have decided that between now and the publication of my comic zine, I will attempt to post a preview panel every week.  Here is the first one.  You may recall that I already posted some bits and pieces from this work-in-progress earlier, hence the number 2 in the post title.

people of the University District

At some point I began making quick sketches of random people I saw on the street or in other public places.  As most of these were drawn during my lunch or other breaks, most of the people were seen in the U District, where I work.

long way up

From about a month ago.  If you look carefully, you can see the ghost images of figures from the drawing on the other side of the page.

zine preview

Here are a few bits and pieces from a comic zine I plan to finish this summer.  It will include some short stories and some single-page pieces.

hot stuff

Inspired by a book of movie monsters I checked out from the library, and my own book of anatomy for artists.

behind the walls

I did this one a little while ago.  One day at work, I found a piece of cardboard with four holes in it, so I decided to trace the holes onto a page of my sketchbook and make a drawing around them.

As I realize that many people have a tendency to take things very literally, I will say that this drawing is not at all intended to be interpreted in a literal way.

giant eyeballs

Though I'm not in the habit of doing parodies, the other day I saw a poster from this movie and had the urge to redraw the characters like figures in one of those 1970s big-eye paintings.  The first person to correctly identify the movie wins a prize.  I haven't decided what the prize is yet.  UPDATE: ID has been made!
